CAKE DECORATING CLASSES
Through this and my business website I have received many enquiries in regards to cake decorating classes.
I personally do not offer cake decorating classeS.
There are many classes available both here in Melbourne and in Sydney. I myself have taken a few in both cities.
I cannot say that I haven't gotten something out of all the classes that I've taken, and I've achieved some kind of enjoyment and learnt even a little something from each one.
Yet there is only one establishment that I feel comfortable with recommending, as I feel that out of all the places I've attended they are the most experienced, the best set up, and offer the most learning outcomes in a short period of time.
The courses are higher in price than courses you'll find elsewhere, but the philosophy of you get what you pay for, is so very true in this instance.
You will learn more in a one day workshop at Planet Cake than attending a one hour class over 8 weeks in some places.
This has been my experience in courses elsewhere. Pay around $120 for an 8 week course. Before the first class spend $50-$100 in materials. The night before the class make sure that all the equipment specified in the course list is ready in the bag to take to class, in some courses you also need to bake a cake each week you go to class. In others you work on a fruit cake over the 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 weeks you end up with a pretty decorated cake, and lost track of all the money spent along the way.
On the other hand, you arrive at Planet cake, with just your handbag. You have a workbench set up ready for you to start. There is a cake or two (depending on the course you're taking) ready for you to start work. You have the ganache made up, the fondant cut for you according to how much you will need to cover your cake. Everything you need is there, including course notes, and you get lunch as well. In one or two days you leave with a gorgeous, professional looking cake that will delight you and your family and friends. No waiting for 8 weeks, no fruit cakes in sight ; )
